About the QT Registry
The purpose of the International Registry for Drug-Induced Arrhythmias (also known as the QT Registry) is to learn from cases of drug-induced arrhythmia now so that we can prevent future cases. If you know a patient suspected of having QT prolongation, arrhythmias or cardiac arrest due to a drug or drug combination, we would like to hear about them. The Registry is not intended for patients with congenital Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) unless the patients have developed arrhythmias directly associated with and, thought to be precipitated by, a drug or drug combination.
Purpose of the Registry
- Collect data on drug-induced prolongation or elongation of the QT interval.
- Review 12-lead ECGs of patients using new techniques.
- Obtain patient samples of blood or buccal cells for genetic analysis.
Long Term Goals
- To discover all factors for the arrhythmia, torsades de pointes.
- To develop a test to rapidly predict individuals at risk of drug-induced arrhythmias.
